Join the Fun and Volunteer! You might learn something while you're at it.
Do you enjoy associating and having fun with like-minded horsemen? Are you interested in participating in the CoVRHA but are not quite sure?
CoVRHA encourages spectators and auditors to attend and enjoy our clinics and competitions at no cost. Experience has taught us that once you come to watch, you will be registering to play at the next one. Why not get the most out of your experience by being a volunteer? Lunch is on us for those who sign-up as a volunteer ahead of the event. Please contact one of our event coordinators on the event page to sign up.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Gatekeepers: A minimum of two volunteers are needed to keep the competition on track by lining up contestants against class lists, open/close gates to the arena for entry and exit, and helping the judges and scribes.
Photographer: If you fancy yourself as a bit of a shutterbug we would love help capturing the event (camera provided).
Arena Personnel: A minimum of three volunteers are needed to help set-up and tear down the cutting pen, deliver score sheets to the office, set-up and re-set after each competitor on the trail course, and generally provide support as needed.
Scribes: A minimum of one volunteer per judge is needed to be the judge’s right hand during the competition. Knowledge of the events is helpful and training will be provided. Studying the rules and the score sheets in advance is required. Scribes learn the score sheets inside and out, and really get a feel for what a judge is looking at in each class. This is a great benefit for a competitor.
Announcer: This volunteer will be in charge of keeping the competition proceeding in a professional, timely fashion. You will call out exhibitor’s name and number, have knowledge of procedures and show format, have an upbeat attitude and sense of humor.
Timekeeper: This volunteer will work in the announcer’s stand running the stop watch and assisting the announcer as needed.
Use the "Contact Us" tab and let us know that you would like to help the CoVRHA.
Buckle Series Competitors: Qualify by competing in at least 4 CoVRHA events, AND volunteering a total of 4 hours over the season.
