Amateur Riders and Education is Our Focus.
CoVRHA and NVRHA are designed specifically for the amateur rider. Our primary objective is to provide an educational, fun and safe opportunity for amateur riders to improve their horsemanship while preserving the great American Ranch Horse traditions. CoVRHA and NVRHA is a starting place for anyone interested - at any level, with any horse - and still provide an opportunity for those wishing to take competition to the next level. Our typical format is a weekend clinic combined with a schooling competition. The weekends will be focused on the skills a typical horse on the ranch would be expected to perform. Classes include Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, Ranch Cutting and Working Ranch. Additionally, a unique conformation class, which judges the horse on "form to function", is also part of the program. We offer three amateur divisions - Novice Amateur, Limited Amateur, and Amateur - for the right fit to your current riding level. Novice Amateur Division riders will be able to take their current horse, of any breed and skill level, and attend Ranch Horse clinics that will provide a “steppingstone” for both the horse and rider. The Limited Amateur Division provides an option for those riders who wish to participate in events above a Novice level but do not choose to perform the fence work or roping/circling elements of the Amateur Division. Amateur Division riders will perform the fence work or roping/circling elements. An Open Division is available to provide a format for any rider on any horse to perform all elements of the event. Riders may choose to ride in one or more classes. The key to our program is to provide education first and foremost, followed by a schooling competition in a stress-free environment. Regardless of the skill level, the event's primary focus will be education and enjoyment of the adventure. We keep our clinician-to-participant ratio low so you will get a lot of personal attention. Come join the fun, challenge yourself and your horse, and learn something new. NVRHA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. |
